FAQ's

Why do I have spots on my greeting card?

The first time you will have to put a lot of crayon on the template. Loose pieces of crayon can stick on the edges of your template, which sometimes can cause spots. Go with a tissue along the inner edges of the template to remove loose chalk. (see Step 1 of your manual) Do not wipe away the loose crayons pieces which are on your drawing when you are finished, better pick it up with a pincet or small stanleyknife. Light spots you can remove with a gum.

What sponge can I use to determine the humidity of my finger?

The best you can use a sponge cloth, allows you to use your finger only damp, not wet. If you finger is too wet, you will not have a nice effect, it will be an plain drawing with no shadow effects in it. With a finger that is too wet you will have edges on your card and many spots. It is important that you feel how moistly your finger is. Your finger is your brush that you paint with, and crayon on your template is the paint.

Why are my colors of my drawing is not dark enough?

You need every time you use the template, apply the crayon thick on the template. If you use too little crayon, you can rub less crayon of the template and your drawing will be light in color.

My template breaks, why?

Every time when you use the template, you have to put the crayon thickly on the template. If you have little or no crayon on it and you rub with your finger, you can not rub the crayon off and you will rub only on the template, which will break.

Why is my drawing plain and not with shadow?

Your finger is too wet, and you can not make a shadow effect. When you start to rub your finger should be moisty and at the end when you rub your finger it is already dry, so you get a light effect.

Can I use oil crayons or wasco crayons for childeren?

No, oil crayons can not mix with water and wipe out. The special watercolor crayon what Tancart use, give the deepest and most beautiful colors.

Can I also use watercolor pencils?

With the use of watercolor pencils, your template will break, because there will not enough crayon on your template. Watercolor crayon is much softer and lubricates much better.

Can I apply Tancart at any paper?

Each type of paper is possible, except as smooth as photopaper, the crayon will not stick on it. We use specially smooth white card paper. The more relief in the paper, the more visible this will be in the drawing.

We recommend the first few times to learn the technique on plain copy paper and then on nice card making paper.
